The short version
- Are fixed prices allowed in Berlin taxis?
- Yes, for pre-ordered rides with agreed pickup and destination. The price is confirmed before departure and must stay within Berlin's tariff corridor.
- Do we drive without a taximeter?
- No. Since July 1, 2024, fixed-price rides must be recorded at the start and end in the fare display. The agreed price only replaces the running kilometre calculation.
- Does the short-distance fare apply to bookings?
- No. Berlin's short-distance fare up to 2 km only applies when a taxi is hailed on the street, not for phone, app, or taxi-stand bookings.
